Choose Gili Air for a relaxed destination group that values good food, easy comfort and a social atmosphere without intense nightlife.
Choose Gili Meno for an elopement, proposal or very intimate wedding where privacy matters more than choice.
Quick rule of thumb
Over 50 guests usually points toward Trawangan. Around 15–50 often suits Air. Under 15, especially for maximum privacy, makes Meno compelling. Venue availability and your date can change that recommendation.
Gili Trawangan: choice and energy
Trawangan has the deepest accommodation inventory and the broadest range of beachfront venues. Guests have more to do before and after the wedding, and the west coast gives you a direct sunset outlook. It is also the easiest of the three for a celebration that needs more suppliers, production or a late finish.
The trade-off is privacy. Trawangan is the busiest island, so the exact venue and section of coast matter. A strong plan controls guest movement and separates your event from the island's everyday energy.
Gili Air: the destination sweet spot
Gili Air often feels immediately comfortable: enough restaurants and stays to give guests choice, but a gentler rhythm than Trawangan. Long dinners on the sand suit the island especially well.
The trade-off is scale. Large groups can narrow your venue and room options. For an intimate or mid-sized wedding, that constraint often becomes a strength — the whole weekend feels naturally connected.
Gili Meno: privacy and nature
Meno is the quietest, with the smallest range of accommodation and nightlife. For two people exchanging vows on an uncrowded beach, that is exactly the appeal. It also works for very small groups happy to prioritise stillness over variety.
The trade-off is choice and contingency. Fewer venues and services mean decisions need to be made early and logistics planned carefully.
